Background, aim and scope

In an international project named MONARPOP (Monitoring Network in the Alpine Region for Persistent and other Organic Pollutants), selected chemicals in different environmental media were analysed in the years 2004 and 2005. Seventeen pesticides were chosen and analysed in humus and mineral soil in the German Alps. The samples were taken at different altitudes.  相似文献

Shortly after initiating a Management of Change instance, the owner develops a list of action items that need to be accomplished in order to successfully complete the MOC. This activity is termed “scoping the MOC”. A well-scoped MOC is efficient and lower risk; a poorly-scoped MOC is inefficient and higher risk. The quality of MOC scoping depends largely on the methodology used, with different sites using anything from no scoping at all, guesswork approaches, checklist approaches, to very sophisticated asset-based scoping. This paper reviews the various scoping methodologies using examples from actual MOC processes currently in use at chemical plants and refineries. The scoping techniques are then evaluated in terms of cost and error susceptibility of the resulting MOCs, using quantitative assessment tools. The results of this research provide specific guidelines on how to optimize scoping for small, medium and large MOCs.  相似文献

The investigation of object-by-attribute matrices is very common in statistics and data analysis with the aim of uncovering every possible relationship among objects and/or attributes. Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) is a method, which stems directly from partial order and lattice theory, which provides an efficient tool to symmetrically uncover linkages among objects and attributes whenever a relation stands among the two sets. It provides efficacious graphical representation and computes association rules between attributes, thus helping in the detection of possible synergism or antagonism of attributes. In this paper, FCA potentialities are discussed and described by means of a case study already investigated by other partial order techniques: the case of Lake Ontario sediment samples. Data derive from a ‘test battery’ for a simultaneous analysis of degradation of Lake Ontario samples, which are basically of two typologies: hygienic and toxicity tests. A multi-valued approach is adopted to cope with the ordinal feature of data. Results highlight interesting interaction among hygienic compounds and a synergism between the two toxicity tests.  相似文献

Using a simple chemodynamical model, the distribution of lipophilic organic contaminants between the solid (suspended particulate matter, sediment) and the aquatic phase in waters has been studied. For numerous organic contaminants found in the river Elbe, the partitioning between the solid and aquous phases has been calculated.  相似文献

The complexity of ecosystems urges that the evaluation process should avoid an aggregation of information. The reason is that although mathematical modelling has made enormous progress (object oriented programming) there is still no ecologically reasonable function of quality. The technique to compare chemicals for example, even if they are characterized by many properties, is based on the generalization of the concept of order and the method of visualization by the using Hasse diagrams. By the example of six chemicals the procedure will be explained and it will be shown that a high hazard potential of chemicals is related to different properties, which cause different ecotoxicological consequences.  相似文献
